PaintStiks on Fabric

Description : Paintstiks are wonderful tools and can be used in many ways on fabric alone. In this class, you will learn how to make your own fabric using Paintstiks on solids as well as batiks or printed fabrics. Learn how to use PaintStiks to customize fabric, design and use stencils, tape and rubbing plates, plus more. Embellish the surface of quilts as well as garments, bags, curtains and so much more. We have all colors of Iridescent PaintStiks, so you may bring your own or borrow ours for class.

Beginning Machine Quilting

Description : Learn how to machine quilt those finished tops, making them finished projects! Machine quilting is a skill you must have, and so much easier to learn in a class. You must bring your machine, good working order, with a free motion foot and walking foot, and know how to lower the feed dogs.

Description : If you want to rent time on our HQ16’s and quilt your own quilts, you must take this training class. You’ll learn all about the machine, how to load your quilt and free motion designs. Class fee includes a set of leaders to take home. Quilting time is $15 per hour, sold in increments of 6 hours for $75, with one hour free!

Description : Always wonder just how to use the beautiful Angelina and Mylar fibers and foils? Is glitter something you think of for pine cones on your Christmas tree? Swarovski crystals look great on almost anything! Come and learn different embellishment techniques without having to purchase all the supplies. The class fee includes a kit of all you’ll need for the class, and you’ll have finished samples of each to take home with you.

Description : Choose any animal pattern from Sharon Malec’s books including “The Dog Lady”, “The Dog Lady Goes Wild” or “The Dog Lady at Christmas” or any of her individual patterns for this class. In the first session you will learn fabric choices and placement, and the second session you will be learning the machine appliqué stitch to complete these gorgeous animals. We can order any of Malec Designs patterns for you, but we need advance notice, so call quickly!

Value VS Color

Description : Do you get confused when choosing colors? Is finding just
the right fabric frustrating? Do your quilts lack that pizzazz that others’ seem to have? You need a lesson on value and color, and how they do (and don’t) work together. Value is a function of color, but can easily be overlooked if you don’t know much about it. Value does all the work, but color usually gets the credit. Come and learn, and then choosing just the right fabrics will be easy! Lecture only. This class is free to all students in Beginning Machine Piecing.

Beginning Machine Piecing

Description : If you are new to quilting and want to start out on the right foot, this class is the one for you! You will learn how to choose fabric in Session I, and then learn how to correctly rotary cut a straight strip without ruler slippage, how to determine a quarter inch seam, how to press a straight seam, and more. Class project is a throw size quilt and includes the traditional split rail fence, log cabin and half square triangles.

This class is geared to the very beginner, so if you are wanting to learn to piece a quilt top, sign up! Quilting is a fun hobby, and we can help you join the crowd!!

Pumpkin Class
Instructor : Kathy Kaiser
Description : Rescheduled from the Spring Blizzard, now YOU can join Kathy and she'll show you how to make her famous "Pumpkin Quilt". She has simplified the pattern, but it is still a beautiful wall hanging featuring a pumpkin with vines and leaves, an original pattern designed by Kathy. We have kits available to take the guesswork out of fabric selection.
