Here are the quick facts about the NEW "Rose of Remembrance" BOM. - Begins January 2011 and continues for 13 months
- The monthly fee of $20 includes the fabric for the blocks, sashing, borders and binding for the FRONT. Pattern is extra.
- There are 2 options for obtaining the pattern:
The book "Rose of Sharon" by Sharon Pederson contains patterns for 60 blocks, plus applique instructions and quilt assembly instructions for traditional piecing, to be quilted later. Cost is $24.95. Book is to be released in the fall, but we are taking pre-orders now and we will ship as soon as we receive them.
The DVD "Rose of Sharon" by Sharon Pederson, which contains patterns for 112 blocks, plus instruction for the "Quilt-As-You-Go" option. Cost is $29.95 The DVD is to be released in the fall, but we are taking pre-orders now and we will ship as soon as we receive them.
- You may choose the "Quilt-As-You-Go" option. The cost for the Kit for the sashing and backing for the BACK of the quilt is $50.
- If you choose the quilt-as-you-go method, you will receive the fabrics for the back blocks and sashing in January. We will charge your credit card for this in December. You must choose the DVD for this option. "Quilt-As-You-Go" technique is NOT covered in the book, only in the DVD.
- There are several options for appliqué (edge-turned, fused, embroidery machine appliqué or hand appliqué).
- Each month you will receive the background fabric and appliqué fabric for one block.
- Cost for the backing fabric for the traditional construction method is $40.
- Upon signing up, $20 is due. Then, you are agreeing to have your credit card billed monthly beginning in January 2011 for the remainder of the 12 payments. There is no sign up fee, only twelve equal payments of $20 plus shipping, if applicable.
- Shipping is $5 per month.

The "Rose of Remembrance" Block of the Month was designed by author Sharon Pederson, when a challenge put out by Electric Quilt Company drew 850 entries.
Judges Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims chose 12 blocks, Sharon Pederson designed a 13th block and the layout.
Island Batiks designed the fabrics, Aurifil Threads is offering a thread combo.
Martingale has published the book "Rose of Sharon" with the "Rose of Remembrance" Pattern, plus more than 60 additional blocks from the Rose of Sharon challenge entries, complete instructions for machine applique and quilt assembly, including alternate settings and design possibilities.
Nine Patch Media offers Sharon Pederson's "Rose of Sharon" DVD which takes you step-by-step through the process of the applique and finishing techniques. The DVD has a printable PDF with the complete pattern as well as 112 additional blocks, and shows you her "Quilt-As-You-Go" technique.
This project is called "Roses of Remembrance"because the designers made the project into an opportunity to share their connection with Alzheimer's]. Through the sales of these products, the partner companies are supporting the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative (AAQI: www.alzquilts.org) in the fight against Alzheimer's.

| Quilt Spree in 2010 |
The 7th Annual Shop Hop is July 22-31, 2010. Buy a passport for $15 at any participating Central Ohio Quilt Shop and then hop from shop to shop any time from July 22-31. Have your passport stamped at each shop, turn it in at the last shop and be eligible for over $10K in prizes! Prizes include sewing machines, $500 shopping spree, project kits, baskets of goodies and more! If you can’t make it to all ten shops, turn in your passport and be eligible for a group of consolation prizes. Circle QT on your passport and you can pick up your prizes at QuiltTrends!
Here’s some more info:
This year the Quilt Spree Passport is a mini folder containing Q-Card Patterns. Each of the ten shops has designed an original project for the Quilt Spree, and the patterns are included in the Quilt Spree passport. The Passport includes a “Stamp Card” to be used to collect passport stamps at each shop. You’ll turn in ONLY the “Stamp Card” so you’ll have the remainder of the passport to use at the December Holiday Fest.
During the July Shop Hop, each store will have a special sale item for passport holders.
At each store you will receive a coupon to use at each shop, good 8/1/10-6/30/11. Each store has their own special for the coupon.
Show passport at December Holiday Fest for FREE admittance to Holiday Shopping Mall AND to collect your Holiday gift
On vacation in July? Create your own Shop Hop.....visit the shops August 1-November 30, have your card stamped. Turn in card at Holiday Fest for a special prize drawing. The shop coupons will be given out to passport holders through November 30, but the July Shop Hop specials are only available to hoppers in July.
NEW for 2010!! Sampler Quilt Pattern---Show your passport to pick up one free copy of the Sampler Quilt Booklet containing complete full-color instructions for a 10 block sampler quilt. Each store has contributed a block. Booklets will be available from July 22-November 30.

| We love to see what our customers create, and we think you do, too. If you want to share a quilt (or 2 or 3) with us, bring it in and let us take a picture. Or, you can send us a digital picture. Either way, we'll load it onto the website in our "Customer Quilts" section, and you can share your quilts with everyone! Won't your friends be impressed when they "Google" your name, and your quilt is online??

The HQ16 Group has changed it’s name to Trendy Machine Quilters of Ohio, and is meeting every other month at QuiltTrends. This Group is open to all who are interested in mid-long arm quilting, whether you already have a machine, or are still dreaming of it! This group was started by a QuiltTrends/HQ16 owner, and the group is open to everyone, no dues, no reservation required. Just come, and bring your questions and latest "challenges" and a "show and tell". Although QuiltTrends is now closed on Sundays we will open from 1-4 pm for this meeting. The meeting is from 1:30-3:30 pm Group meeting dates on Sunday:
